Does LAN connection need computer?

We have purchased a Profilux 3 to control our experimental aquarium, and are about to start setting it up. As the unit will sit outside a coldroom on University campus, we would prefer not to have a laptop continually attached to the interface. But, can we set up the Profilux with a laptop, and then be able to control it remotely via LAN without the laptop being there? I am very new to all of this so apologies if it is a stupid question!

just connect laptop and P3 to the same network
start ProfiLuxControl on this laptop, do the connection settings (IP of ProfiLux)

maybe you have to do before some basic network settings in the P3, then you better first connect directly (USB, RS232)

Thanks. It will be hooked up to a secure network so no doubt will have some hoops to jump thorugh but hopefully the IT guys here can sort it out. Cheers
