Daumen hoch HOW TO - Manually Install Doser 2 Firmware driver

I see on the forum and get lots of requests on how to manually install the firmware USBVCOM driver which is required when doing updates. Windows 8 especially does not install this automatically.

Here is a step by step for Windows 8.1 (the basics should apply to most windows OS's)

    1. Download the latest firmware from here to update the doser 2
    https://aquariumcomputer.com/en-GB/ghldownloads

Select Doser 2 and then go to the firmware folder. Download the ZIP file and then extract the MHX file to your desktop so it can be easily found for later. It is critical you extract the file.

2.Finding the Firmware tab in GHL Control Center - This is under Extras

    3. Once you have clicked on firmware you will see this screen, just click next and your doser will go into Bootloader, the LED GHL sign will go dark.

    4. Here is your next screen,

    5. Click on device Manager. What you are looking for is a COM port marked USBVCOM. It is likely instead you will see this (note the exclamation over the unknown device.)

RIGHT CLICK on this exclamation unknown device (the expanded one with the exclamation and click on "update driver" then click on Browse my computer

The next window is where you select the driver address location, click browse

    Next window

Scroll down to windows C and click to expand

Scroll down to find the GHL Control center folder (in this case V1061)

Scroll down to TOOLS then click on this to expand so you see the Fujitsu folder and expand again to see the driver folder

Click (not open) the "DRIVER" folder to highlight it then press OK to select this folder. The driver will now install.

Once installed go back to device manager and you "should see" USBVCOM installed

MAKE NOTE of the COM number

In GHL Control center go back to this screen and enter the noted COM# and press next

You are now ready to load the firmware. You will see this screen, from here select the file you saved to your desk top and follow the onscreen instructions

Hope that helps a little. It looks a lot but its just a matter of clicking the right tabs.
