    Hello,

I tried updating the Powerbar only. After I clicked on "do you want to update anyways", I received the message "error transmitting firmware!", followed by "Communications error! Error code 28. After that, I was disconnected from the P3.

Which state are the LEDs showing? Green LED is flashing fast (faster than once per second)?

    You could try following:
    - Remove the power plug from the Powerbar
    - Start the update for the PAB device as before
    - after clicking the "do you want to update anyways" message ...
... immediately plug in the power plug from the Powerbar (perhaps it will be better to use a switchable socket)
    - and the update should start

Yes the powerbar green light is flashing faster than 1/second.
Is it the same power off procedure for the expansion box? I received the same error message when trying to update it.
There are no lights available on the expansion box.

Could you try the steps mentioned in Post #13?

Yes, the same procedure is for the ExpansionBox after the firmware update succeeded with the PowerBar

    -First updated P3 to 5.17

    -I powered off the powerbar
    -Clicked on "update anyways?"
-Immediately turned on powerbar. (maybe 1 - 2 second delay)
-Yellow light on powerbar flashed a few times
    -Received message "error transmitting firmware"
    -Received message "communications error 28"
    -Yellow light stopped flashing
    -Clicked OK to error message
-Yellow light on powerbar flashed a couple more times
-Received second message "communications error 28"
-Yellow light on powerbar stopped flashing and I was disconnected from the P3
-Green light is flashing faster than 1/second on powerbar again
-Unable to assign any devices to PAB list - none show up

I performed this a few times, both with turning on the powerbar immediately before and after the "do you want to update anyways?" message
    No luck.

I have not tried this with the Expansion Box yet.

    Hello,

I was able to solve the problem and all three units are now updated to the latest firmware.

For the last 4 or so years, I have been using this USB adapter:
It has worked for all other firmware updates.
    It is a DYNEX DX-UBDB9

I switched it out tonight for another USB adapter I had, this one:
    It is a KEYSPAN USA-19HS

    2013-08-19 19.23.35.jpg

I don't know what the difference is. Maybe I have never updated the PAB devices before, I don't know.
I have updated the P3 before with the older USB adapter

    Thank you for your help.
