It's the logical funktion NOT

i. e.:
NOT ( A OR B)

I don't get it

It makes the function the "opposite" of whatever you have setup. For example if the condition you have set up turns a socket OFF and you invert it this function will now work the opposite of what it did. The trigger would turn that socket OFF otherwise the socket would be ON.
