    Default DIY LED Project

    Hi there

This is my first post, so forgive me for any errors!

Ive just finished my LED project and I thought I would share it with you.

The project has been completely built with DIY materials (including 10NO heatsink bolted together to make the backplate! :-))

My LED light has 162NO LED Chips with individual lenses. there are 6No different LEDS, ranging from UV to Deep Red. The LEDS have been selected to offer the correct nM for coral growth. The LEDs are in the main, the new cree XML's

The lenses have been selected using various beam angles ranging from spot to flood.

The combined LED and lens combination has given me the ability to offer intense light outputs (using a seneye light measure, I have recorded a 37000lux at 24" using only the 15000k and 6500k leds - admittedly this is an in air measurement at the moment)

The LED Light has been specifically built to be used with the Profilux3ex including cloud lag (left to right). I have used 10No light channels L1 to L10 (this meant purchasing the Light expansion card for the profilux). The channels are set to not only simulate cloud sweeps but also offers the ability to simulate any time of day (sunrise midday etc).

Each channel is dimmable via the 0-10v interfaces. the LED drivers (housed in the grey box) are constant current 0-10v dimmable

I have attached some photos of the (almost) finished fitting.

    Enjoy!!!

    Thanks Matthias!

I will post some videos soon.

I have built this LED in advance of my new 800l tank which is due in the next few weeks. So, I'm afraid we all have to wait for the finished article.

I will post some more photos of each colour and the respective light graph later.
