Michael, the DC-DC converter you asked about ... is it the other side of the power plug or is it the black box on that pc board that is mounted closest to the screen side? If it is this one, yes it gets hot to the touch.
I think this will be impossible to diagnose over email or forum, I dont want to send you parts only to find its not the right ones. The fastest option would be for you to send to us for repair.
I do not have a front screen on hand so would need to get one sent from GHL for us to fit for you if it is the front board PCB.

No idea on cost until we know what the issue is, however I do not charge anymore than the parts costs us keeping all GHL repairs costs to a minimum for clients, plus shipping of course labour cost is free also.
