Default file unsuitable for updating device

    Hello,

When trying to update firmware for my PIII (which I have done many times before) I can only receive the message "this file is unsuitable for updating this device!"
I am using software version 5.1.1.3 trying to update my firmware from 5.09 to 5.11.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

Perhaps you downloaded the false firmware file?

Try to download the right file again and repeat the procedure...

    Thank you Frank.
I have tried downloading the file again, but that did not work.
I also tried installing firmware vers. 5.10 but received the same message.

    Thank you, Blahenazo

The strange thing about this file for me is that it is a zipped file, but the "expand" option is greyed out for it.
When I open the zipped file, it shows the .mhx file right away, so I wondered if Windows 7 had a different way of unzipping files.
When I choose that .mhx file to update, that is when I receive the error message.

Blahenazo, your question made me investigate further and I was able to expand the file after I dragged it to the desktop. I was not able to expand it from the downloads folder.
The firmware update is progressing fine now.

    Thanks again
    Mitch
