Default P3 USB - RS232 Connection Problem, Error Code 28

    Hello,

Last two days i have been working very hard to connect my P3 to the internet via a bridge and to a pc using a serial cable, both to no avail. But first things first so lets start with the RS232.

    Profilux 3 Firmware: 5.01c
    PLC Software: 5.0.8.1

    The Connection:
    PC/Netbook --> USB to RS232 converter cable -->Official ProfiLux-Ser cable --> ProfiLux 3

    Steps to make it work
    1. Connect the cables
    2. Install Prolifc driver for VID_067B&PID_2303 (Tried both from the GHL site and the official Prolific site)
    3. Check the COM & baudrate in Device Magager
    4. Create new connection in PLC software with the same settings
    5. Upon connection i get an Error code: 28

    What else have i tried?
-Changing the device adress, timeout and turning on RS485 delay have not worked
-Changing COM ports 1 to 10 in device manager and PLC ensuring i reboot the computer every time i changed port. Did not work either
-Searching automatically for COM port in PLC gives the same error
-Different USB ports on the computer
-Tried on both desktop (Win 7) and laptop (XP). Both the same
-All the testing was done WITHOUT anything else connected to the Profilux

Normal USB to USB connection works. But i cannot update my profilux without the RS232 connection...

Can anyone give me some tips/ ideas? I am beginning to think that there is something wrong with my P3.

    Kind regards,
    giannis

ps:I will post about the wireless bridge problem in another topic.

    By the way,

Here is a screenshot. As you can see there is some kind of transmission going on but not as it should be

I even tried turning off antivirus software just in case...

I just got a cable from Sweex, also with Prolific chipset. This one appears to be working... I will check if the FW update fixes the LAN problem and post
