Can this be an ethernet type cable, or does it need the large rs232 cable connector?
We wish to only drill a small hole through the wall for running the cable.
Also, how long is the supplied cable?
Thanks,
Chris

No, it isn't a Ethernet cable. It's a special cable RS232 to Western RJ12 (6 Pins).
The supplied cable is approximately 2m..2.50m. You could use a extension cable, if the cable isn't long enough. There are also Western extensions available.
To keep the hole in you wall as small as possible - simply use the side with the Western connector to put through the cable
I too am very interested in knowing this, and I believe that what Chris was asking is *if* it would be possible to use an RS232 ~ Ethernet adapter which would allow for a standard Cat5 cable to be pulled a great distance through a wall and then simply have the ends crimped on. It sounds as if what you're saying is that the same thing can easily be done with a standard 6-wire Telco (RJ12) extension or even an adapter such as the one below...

... but be aware: the pinout of this adapter may not match to the pinout of the ProfiLuxViewII connection cable. If the pinning does not match the ProfiLux and/or the View could be damaged!
