Profilux wlan not working - seems impossible

I have a profilux plus 2 on firmware 5.08 and my pc software is 5.0.8.1

I have been working on this connection for weeks and its doing my head in because it will not work!

Its starting to look like this Profilux WLAN card is a total waste of money. The place I got it from is gone out of business so cant return it.


Anyway enough of the rant and heres whats wrong.

I am on a vodafone dsl router and my security on it says its WPA2 TKIP+AES. My laptop is running norton 360.

I have followed the online tutorial to the letter and still no joy!

followed the youtube wlan setup video also and still no joy

It only seems to connect to the lantronix interface page on random occasions.


I start out by turning off my router security on its configuration screen 192.168.1.x
and also turn off the norton firewall.

log onto the profilux with rs232 to usb cable.
click settings
click wireless LAN
click configure.
says on this screen
ip of this pc is 192.168.1.x

I select static ip and enter 192.168.1.xx
enter ssid as Vodafone_6E7A
Leave infrastructure checked
then save

I then open a browser page and enter the static ip i picked for the profilux wlan card 192.168.1.xx

99 times out of 100 it will not connect to the lantronic page.

on the odd ocassion when it has connected I cannot change the security settings to get it to work.

At one stage I was able to connect wirelessly to the profilux by having the two securities above turned off but as soon as i turn them on there is no connection

as I said though 90% of the time it will not connect..

I know i need to set the security on the lantronix page but the few times ive been able to access it i cannot get the passphrases to match with what the vodafone router is set to ie WPA2 TKIP+AES. Its like the option is not available on the lantronix page.

If i try and change the vodafone router security to something that suits the lantronix security options my router stops working and i loose internet wireless connection.

I have tried this WLAN setup hundreds of times and it several different ways and simply cannot get it to work.

Has anybody any ideas?

could it be a problem with the software on the Lantronix card, can this be updated?

Seem to have gotten a little further myself but still not working.

Basically I can get the pc to connect to the profilux wirelessly if I do not alter anything on the lantronix configuration page and turn off my routers security settings.

so basically it seems that I cannot get the vodafones and the lantronixs security settings to match.

the lantronix cannot accept the settings that are currently on my vodafone router and i get an error 404

Anyone got any ideas how to get this working.

the software on the lantronix is v6.6.00

Anyone know if this can be updated to accept more security options.

the security on my vodaphone router is wpa2 psk tkip 14 letter passphrase.

there is no option for this on the lantronix so i cannot get them to match.

its a pain having to turn off the security on the router each time i want to log onto the profilux through wireless pc connection.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

did you try another security setting for your route try wpa( not wpa 2 ) some devices can't handle wpa 2.

I have a wifi printer which can't do wpa 2 for example. but its works perfectly on wpa

yes i have,

get an error 404 on the lantronix page when trying to input the same as the router wpa and passphrase

one thing i did notice but im not sure if it makes a difference.

my vodafone router says

wpa2 psk radio type 802.11n

the lantronix says wpa2 802.11i

Lantronix funktioniert nur mit WPA TKIP !

Habe einen zweiten Router an LAN des Hauptrouters als "Relais" , der läuft dann auf WPA-TKIP.

yes ive heard of babelfish,
but with such a technical issue things are easily lost in translation.

the suggestion of the tkip wpa doesnt work either.

if you have read properly in the earlier posts ive tried this allready and i get error 404 on the lantronix interface
