what is -/+ by ph probe on wifi-mini

I've been getting bizare readings from the ph probe and noticed a '-' sign next to it and am wondering if that symbol means something significantly. I have a 2nd wifi-mini with ph probe and that one has a '+' by it.

Section 6.1.2 Display Indications
Display of the current sensor values (-): When the minus symbol is displayed, the control has activated the corresponding switching socket (if present) to reduce the pH value.

Display of the current sensor values(+): When the plus symbol is displayed, the corresponding switching socket (if present) has activated the control to increase the pH value.
