Default ventilation of reagent liquid tubes

In the manual page 41, under the headline "7 Measurement accuracy"

one of the points that is suggested to maximize accuracy is

Careful ventilation of reagent liquid tubes
what is meant by this ? drilling a ventilation hole in the reagent bottle ? this is not explained anywhere else.

    thank you.

What if you're not using the bottle it came in? How much ventilation does it need and what's the purpose? The glass jar we're using is not airtight, so there is some ventilation. Does that count?

    That's fine too.
Just make sure there is enough ventilation so the reagent pump does not cause a vacuum inside the reagent container.
