fluctuating readings

I have noticed my readings on my KHD can fluctuate by 0.5kh,

What would cause this?

I have the test amount set to 100ml

Its quite normal with some changing KH during the day, but make sure you are calibrating exactly and try to get the sample water as far from dosing outlets as possible. Im currently testing with 50ml and its very stable (+/- 0.1kh)

As mentioned above, there are quite a bit of factors which can affect this change, not necessarily related to the KHD. For example, if you test at night the result may be different than the day-time result because corals are photosynthesizing as a result of the aquarium lighting being ON.
