    if not rj45 what cable size is this? telephone cable (rj11)?

    Yes I think its (edit: not RJ11 as pointed out by Gunther below) RJ12, but in terms of pin out no idea. The cables from GHL are called "VSL" or "S" type, no idea on what VSL stands for, I think S is socket.

    You need a RJ12 cable with 6 contacts, all wired.
    RJ11 will mechanically fit, but it has only 4 contacts wired.

    what's the difference from the two RJ12 models? what's the difference from the data communications model? i'm guessing i need the data model?

    How should we know? I would recommend to ask the shop guys.

    i'm guessing i need the data model?
    This are third-party cables, so buying it will be on your own risk in all cases.
    To be 100% save you should buy a GHL spare cable

    However a cable RJ12 6P6C straight connected will do it as long as you respect the max cable lenght of 10m an the EMV guidelines (keep distance between power and signal cable)
