Default Optimum height with regards to water depth and width for 6100hv

Hi. I know minimum height above water is 200mm but what is optimum for my info below.

    tank is 4x2x2.
    2 x 6100 hv,s
water line to sand is 50cm
    60cm width front to back.

Ive slowly ramped the lights up to 100% andam in high output mode
Ive got SPS in top 1/3, LPS middle, zoas etc bottom
Ive got lights at 240mm at the moment, they seem like they need to be higher to get better spread.

    Thanks

    Hi monkeyboy,

You can have your Mitras 8 to 12 inches from the top of the tank. Raising the light will give you the extra spread you're looking for.

    Thanks Vinny.

Won't raising the lights to 12" lose to much PAR.

That will depend on the light settings you are using. You can compensate by running on High Output mode and/or increasing overall intensity.

I wish these lamps were a bit more user friendly, there's to many things to screw up.

For example. There to many different ways on the light composer to mix say a colour temp of 14k.

Although you if you whack the whites up to get a load of PAR how much of this is useable PUR.

I'm finding it hard to get the right balance of white and blue but still get good Intensity.

I look at some light files that people post and some of the spectrums don't look right to me.

Are there any in depth guidelines for setting these lights up ?

my only complaint is, i wish they had more blue, so you could get the output more blue, while still running the whites on a higher output. mabye 8 royal blue/8 blue against 6 white had ben a better mix.

Agree with you there StafF. Not enough blue when the whites are up. If say compared to a kessil, radion

For those wanting some more blue spectrum, we do offer upgrade kits to convert a 6100HV into a 6200HV.

When the Mitras LX was launched, only the 6100 series was offered. Due to requests to offer a Mitras with more blue spectrum, we also launched the 6200 series. The primary LED clusters are the only pieces that would be swapped out for the 6200 LED clusters.
