Ok so i had a network engineer come over and take a look at all my settings. Here is what he said/gave me

PC settings
IP address 192.168.1.2
SM 255.255.255.0
GW 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1...

No. Serial connection used the 9 pin plug. That goes to an adapter then to my sub port on my lap top.
The LAN connection goes straight to the router from the P3.

With resistors inline its also a fail safe system. Don't even need to program the output to 5V. Default settings are fine.
