Doesn't point to your network as the issue then.
I tried to open the PLC program and when it would not connect I tried the continuous ping.
It got a response after 15 tries.
What would cause this randomness?
The ping got a response or PLC?
When I could not connect the PLC, I used the cmd ping -t. The 15th ping got a response from the Profilux. I was then able to connect the PLC.
If there are ping losses, then there is a massive network problem.
There is a timeout in the ProfiLux (around 1-2mins), if the connection is interrupted suddenly.
This is the reason, why you could not connect immediately after a connection loss.
Maybe a solution is to try another switch(/router with integrated switch).
And check your IPs, if there are addresses used twice.
I have the exact same problem and so do a lot of other people in another thread here ( http://forum.aquariumcomputer.com/sh...-for-webserver ) It is NOT OUR NETWORK! It has to do with the way PLC connects or in our case doesn't connect. I run 3 other servers over my network and have no trouble EVER! As soon as I try to connect via TCP it gets into a connect, disconnect, search and connect again loop. I cannot use it at all to adjust settings it never stays connected long enough.
Thanks Shane,
I guess it's good to know that I am not the only one with this problem and I can stop going crazy looking for what I am doing wrong.
I certainly hope GHL is working to solve this.
Most people doesn't have those mentioned problems.
If the ProfiLuxControl connection isn't stable, there could be many reasons.
But if there are ping losses, then there IS a massive network problem.
The ping response is using a completely other protocol and port and even if the port used by the PLC is down or blocked in another way, the ping is still working.
additional to post #15 ... do you use the App or another program accessing the ProfiLux via LAN? Then try to deactivate it temporarily and check, if the connection is still unstable.
Here the same. No network issues at all with a server, NAS etc up and running w/o issues over the last years. But connection with profilux 3 keeps dropping every minute or so. Same issue at my friend with his P3. Ony way to have stable link by the software is over the serial connection.
I can only get a stable connection via serial, USB freezes the program every 2 or so minutes and as I have said TCP is hopeless. I use ProfiluxControl 6.0.6.0. The iPhone app connects fine and I don't have any problems with it
