Photo mode query

My aquarium sits behind me in my office and I’m on videos calls multiple times a day. I found that the GHL LX7 flicker is very bad on the video call, but disappears with photo mode. I know this mode is less efficient, but I can’t realistically keep putting it into photo mode for every work call. I therefore planned to just leave it in photo mode.

Does photo mode affect anything other than the stepping and refresh rate? I only have short sunrise and sunset periods, so I’m not bothered about these been wider.

I might be imagining it but the tank seems slightly dimmer in photo mode.
