ATO using optical/float sensors

Hi All

I was planning to use the optical sensor as the primary sensor for my ATO and mounting a float valve slightly above it as a backup.

Does this sound ok? Or would the float sensor be better as the primary and optical as the backup?

I use the optical sensor as the primary and only rarely does it calcify and require cleaning.
I also use a float valve as the lower float in the AWC scenario and it does get marine growth etc on it, but even then I only clean once a year and have no issues with it when AWC is going (2 times a week)
I think the optical sensors have a lot more peace of mind and are perfect for your primary.
