Hi,

My setup :
Freshwater 2000L (3550 x 70 x 80cm)
Aquarium controller : GHL ProfiLux 3.1T eX
Main Filtration : 2 x Royal Exclusiv RD3 Speedy pump 80 Watt / 8,0m³ + Two sumps with bio-balls
UV Filtration : Royal Exclusiv RD3 Mini Speedy 50Watt 5000L/h --> JBL AquaCristal UV-C 36W
Illumination : Maxspect R420R 10000K (160W x 4), 10h on /14 h off, from 0 to 80% in 3 hours
Maintenance : Daily water changes 2.5%
Water parameters : 25-26°C, pH 7.9, GH 7, KH 5, No3 5ppm, Po4 0.05 ppm, Fe 0.05 ppm
Ferts : Easylife Pro
Plants : Ceratophyllum demersum, Cabomba aquatica, Echinodorus amazonicus, Microsorum pteropus, Anacharis Egeria, Hygrophila corymbosa
Fish : Geophagus sp. ‘tapajós red head’, Astronotus ocellatus, Andinoacara rivulatus, Ancistrus sp., Crossocheilus siamensis

I would like to change my razor lamps to mitras lightbars. If I understand correctly I would need :
- Four GHL Mitras Lightbar Daylight 160
- Two Mitras-LB-PSU200 (since there is no 400watt transformer)
- Two Mitras-LB-Splitter
- Two Mitras-LB-Profilux-Cable Interface Cable
- One GHL PLM-RS232 PL-0601 (to add a second RS232)

Question 1 : Do you have any better suggestions ?
Question 2 : According to your "rule of thumb: low light demand: 0,3 watt per liter, very high light demand: 0,9 watt per liter". Is this unit of measurement still relevant for LEDs ?
Question 3 : Even with 4 lightbars I would only have 0.2 watts per L. Is this sufficient ?
Question 4 : Could you tell me what are the PAR/PUR measurements for the GHL Mitras Lightbar Daylight 160 and how they compare to the Razor 160w R420r (see attachement) ?

Thanks for your reply,

An update from a post by Matthias in another thread "...I recommend to start with 4 x double rows for your 2000l, if it is not enough maybe a 5th row later..."
So the setup would change to :
- Eight GHL Mitras Lightbar Daylight 160
- Three Mitras-LB-PSU300
- Three Mitras-LB-Splitter
- Three Mitras-LB-Profilux-Cable Interface Cable
- Two GHL PLM-RS232 PL-0601 (to add a second RS232)

OMG this is getting expensive...

Some of my questions still stand :
Question 1 : Do you have any better suggestions ?
Question 2 : Could you tell me what are the PAR/PUR measurements for the GHL Mitras Lightbar Daylight 160 and how they compare to the Razor 160w R420r (see attachement) ?

New questions :
Question 3 : What is the weight of a 160cm mitral light bar ?
Question 4 : Do you have any suggestions to hold these bars on my 3550cm tank ?

Hello,

if you like to replace your 4x160W, then 6 Lightbar Daylight 160 should be sufficient.

One Lightbar 160 has a weight of 3,28 kg.

The best would be to have a stabilizer bar in the mid of the tank - is this the case?
As fixation we only offer our Z-holders.

Another option would be to take several Lightbars 70 and to mount them this way: I I I I ... instead of this: = = =.

Is your tank open? Then perhaps our Mitras LX pendant lamp could be another option...

Hello Carolin,

If I used Mitras Lighters 70 perpendicularly as you say ( I I I I ) :
1) How much space would be illuminated by a single Mitras Lighter 70 ?
2) How many 70 mitras lightbars would you then recommend for a 3550cm tank ?

Best regards,

A single Mitras Lightbar has generally an angle of reflected beam of 120°.

I think you would need at least 12x 70 units. Please keep in mind that you would have much
more wiring and cables compared to the 6x 160 units.

Hello,
Hope I'm asking my question in the right place.
I would like to reinforce my lighting by adding mitras bars around my actual Vertex SR260 1800.
My thank is:
200 x 70 X 55 cm (55 is the water hight).
So I was thinking adding to my thank 2 mitras light bar of 80 cm and two of 50 cm like this:

8290
Do you think it's a good idea?
As my Vertex is only 1,80 m long and my thank 2 m long.
And also, as in front, the corals on the sand are not very well illuminated.
If this is a good idea, what should I get?
My main concern is coral growth.
Actinic or deep actinic?
Thanks

Hi,

If you have an effective way to mount a single Mitras LB 160 that would be a better option because you will have increased light output and less cords. Adding additional Mitras LB on the ends of your existing light fixture would also be a good idea.

If you want to have more blue light, the Deep Actinic is a good choice.

We have an LED breakdown for each Mitras LB option we offer, which can be found here:

Hello,
Yes again it's me! :-)
Good support has the effect of pushing me to request again some help! :-)
I have a friend who have this issue:
His tank: 240 x 75 x 67 (water height)
Actually, he has 5 Razor ramp of 16 w 16000 K.
his corals are growing correctly but he is not happy about color of his corals.
Mainly, he is not able to maintain correctly red or pink colors or corals.
As I'm very happy with my mitras lightbar, I suggested to him that he should think about adding 4 mitras lightbar of 80 cm (in the direction of front to back of the aquarium and not in the direction of left to right).
By this way, he will have one mitras lightbar in between of each two razor.
what do you think he should do?
and which color of mitras lightbar he should add?
I was supposing he is missing warm colors with his actual lighting solution so I thought about adding Ocean blue or daylight. But daylight seems to not be for reef usage.
thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Houman,

When it comes down to deciding between the Mitras LB Ocean Blue or LB Actinic, it is really a matter of overall color preference. Judging from the photos, your friend favors the bluer spectrum. :)

In order to fill the spectrum gap, he would benefit from using either one. If he has a Profilux controller, he will have full control over the Light Bars. In which case, he can tune the Actinic model to suit his desires.

The Mitras LB 70 will cover the front to back of his tank.

Hello and thanks for your answer.
He do not favor bluer spectrum. It's what he can obtain today with his Razors.
And the main issue why he is adding new lights is to equilibrate and maintain betterly pink and red colors of corals.
And unfortunately, he do not have the profilux.
In this context what do you recommend including for the color of corals.
Thanks
