View Full Version : Conductivirty value changing with water temperature

Hi,
I have recently replaced my conductivity probe with a new platinum version.
I am noticing that the conductivity reading is dropping when the temperature of the water drops.
I am using the temp probe as the sensor NOT manual temperature.
Any advice as to how to fix this so conductivity is stable regardless of water temp ?

Hello,
does your temperature sensor still work correctly?
How big is the difference when the conductivity value drops (can you give us some example)?

Hi Carolin,
Thanks for the response.
The temperature is working correctly as tested with another digital temp pen.

The CoS drop is quite large as below:
@Temp = Cos
22deg c = 49mS
25deg c = 53mS

I have tested this over a few days, with the same results. i.e not running my heater to allow the temp to fall.

Please advise...

Hemant

I seem to be having this same problem, Hemant.

Hello hemoi & Tone,

the conductivity depends actually on the temperature.
It is the case for the calculated values like density and salinity where the temperature compensation becomes effective.
So this behaviour is quite normal.

Hi Carolin,

I agree that naturally the density and hence conductivity of water changes with temperature, but is it not the case that the profilux compensates for the water temp to give a constant salinity reading using the "temp probe" setting ? If not, then the obvious question is what is the difference with setting the compensation settings between "temp sensor" and "manual @ 25deg"

Cheers,
