Trying to update my Mitras. Having problems trying to find the driver. Have looked on device manager and no luck. I have downloaded the driver manually but I still can't see the driver in the device manager. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The Mitras driver comes with GHL Control Center. Under the device manager you can find the device under COM & LPT.
For the Mitras you need wo different drivers. The first you need for the connection to the Mitras and the second for updating firmware.

The first driver is in folder: "C:\Program Files (x86)\GHLControlCenter_V1054\Driver".
The second driver you find in folder: "C:\Program Files (x86)\GHLControlCenter_V1054\Tools\FUJITSU USB DIRECT Programmer\driver\Win7".

There is no Link for the drivers, they are included in GHL Control Center.
Which operating system do you use?

Windows XP
My current Mitras FW is 1.08. Using GHL control 1054.

If you can connect to your Mitras and can't update the firmware, than you have to install the driver manual.
Read this: http://forum.aquariumcomputer.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=85

I CAN connect via USB cable. Mitras is currently connected via USB to GLC but just can't update FW.

If your plugging into a USB 3.0 try plugging into USB 2.0 instead, that's the only way I can get it to work.

doggydoc10
22.07.2014, 14:38
And how do I determine which USB is 2 or 3?

Halfmoon
22.07.2014, 15:13
See if you have a 3.0 controller in Device Manager under the USB controllers. If not, then moot point. If you do you can try different ports. I know USB is supposed to support legacy, but on my computer I have four ports, one is 2.0 and it's the only USB port that allows me to connect to Mitras or Profilux to update firmware.

Thank you very much. Will try that tonight and will provide screenshots as needed.
Thank you very much

And how do I determine which USB is 2 or 3?

USB 3.0 ports usually have a blue plastic connector instead of the black ones of USB 1.1/2.0

Of course, it´s not a requirement for USB 3.0  but a used way to differ between the port standards

Under USB controllers this is what I have. I believe they are 2.0

I can see you have a USB device with a yellow exclamation mark under other devices.
Does this USB device disappear if you disconnect your mitras?
If it disappear than it is your Mitras and you have to install the driver under "C:\Program Files (x86)\GHLControlCenter_V1054\Tools\FUJITSU USB DIRECT Programmer\driver\Win7" manual.
After the installation restart your computer and try the firmware update again.

I have tried installing driver and shutting comp down and restarting but still not fixed.

Ok. Able to recognize Mitras. It's currently on Com 5. So far so good. BUT I go ahead and follow with the update....progress stops at number 2 out of 7 and then it tells me couldn't install update.
Now as you can see here

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/24/a2ynabe9.jpg

the comp is recognizing the Mitras but when I go to follow the update instructions

This happens

That's the same thing it would do to me until I found the one USB port that worked. I wish I could offer more help, I know it's frustrating.

I have tried all three USB ports to no avail!
I am even inputting manually on the device manager the folder where the driver is....and it tells me that the comp can't find the driver.....

You have installed the wrong driver. Mitras lamps have two modes: normal and update.
After step 1 of firmware update (update manua (http://forum.aquariumcomputer.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=85)l) mitras switch to update mode and you should see the device called "USBVCOM" as described in the manual.
The "GHL virtual communications port" is the driver for normal mode. Look at your mitras display, if it isn't on the lamp is in the update mode. If not - restart firmware update and click "Next" only one time.

If the lamp is in the update mode and you still have "GHL virtual communications port" in device manager, you have to unistall it and install the right one:
- Click on this device with the right button
- Choose "Uninstall"
- Click on "Uninstall drivers for this device" in the new window, which will pop up.
- Click "Ok"

- Then search for new hardware, you will get new unknown device
- Manually install the right driver (described in manual (http://forum.aquariumcomputer.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=85))
- Now you should have "USBVCOM" device in your device manager.
- Choose the right COM-number of USBVCOM in GHL Control Center and proceed with firmware update.

Just to clarify prev post. Whenever I go and uninstall the GHL driver and then try to install/update the USBVCOM driver the search wizard still tells me that it cannot find any updates for the driver.

DennisO
24.07.2014, 14:58
It's because you are trying to install it automatically. You have to install it manually as described in update manual (http://forum.aquariumcomputer.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=85)
Read page 2-4 of manual to install the driver.

I understand. I have done the search manually but I CANT locate where the driver might be. I have tried deleting driver and installing it new....but after I go search for it and I can't find. Sorry I know it's something stupid...but can't find it. Been looking trying to do this for 3 days....

The path is:
C:\Program Files(x86*) \GHLControlCenter_VXXXX\Tools\FUJITSU USB DIRECT.........

*In case of 64-bit system. Or without x86 - in case of 32-bit system.
VXXXX - actual version of GHLControlCenter, e.g. V1055

I will try that tonight and report then.
I know I have tried that already. Maybe I need to delete "x86" to see if it works that way.

just to clarifiy:

during normal operation you will see the MitrasLX-driver, not the USBVCOM, in the device manager

once you entered the download mode this changes: now only the USBVCOM is shown, not the "normal" driver

means: you will only see the USBVCOM driver AFTER you entered the update procedure

Thank you very much for the clarification Mathias.
I believe my issue is with the 64 vs 32 bit.
I will try that tonight and will report back.
Thank you very much

Ok
Thank you everyone.
Got it to work. Issue was I am running a windows XP HOME edition. Instead of 64 bit it's a 32 bit. So when doing the manual driver, I HAD TO REMOVE x86* from the file!!!
Finally updated to latest version.
One more thing to mention, not sure if I read it anywhere...if you have a 6100 AND a 6200 you CANNOT use the same cable to connect to them!
Not sure why but I needed to use a separate cable for each one of them!!!!
And yes I know it doesn't make sense to have one of each. I am planning on upgrading but not at this point.

Matthias

yes makes really no sense, USB is USB, and the Mitras hardware is the same, except the LED clusters

I know it makes no sense but I tried MULTIPLE times with the first cable and NOTHING. Just an interesting tidbit. That's all.
