unfortunately we need a few more days - the many new functions and features request intensive testing
I think we can offer the downloads for the new firmware and ProfiLuxControl in the next week

a short preview:
- many new tokens for designing your own webpages in ProfiLux
- digital inputs can start now every action (e.g. waterchange 2 or maintenance 2 etc.)
- ProfiLux is prepared for the new apps from GHL
- NTP: time zones extended
- support of neew level cards
- for waterchange and ATO you can define now separate sockets which shall be switched without using prog. logic
- fix of minor bugs of the previous versions
- support for ProfiLux 3 Outdoor
- prepared for the new coming firmwarefor ProfiLux Touch and SMS-module

I am sure I forgot a few things - anyway, this update is worth to do it ...

Thank you for the update Matthias. This is VERY exciting news.

That's a fairly significant # of features and changes for sure.

It´s said:

ProfiLux is prepared for the new apps from GHL

So if the FW is out, the android app can be tested by the beta users. It´s said the iphone app will be later (also due verification procress from apple app store). So please be patient

Thanks Matthias,
Could you please also update the Firmwarehistory_ENG.txt!

Matthias

we updated PLC because in 5.1.5.0 we forgot to disable some debugging functions - they are useless for the "normal" user and may confuse

-> please update to 5.1.5.1 when you already installed 5.1.5.0

Is anyone can confirm that update to 5.1.5.1 is safe?
No more bugs there?

I've installed it and ran through it on my system (very simple so keep that in mind) and it's rock solid... or at least it has been for me.

You did post the firmware 5.15 changes here but you have not updated the Firmwarehistory_ENG.txt in the download section, you only changed the german one

Matthias,
Above you mention the many new tokens for webpages?
I cannot see where these new tokens are displayed/annotated?
I note that the latest update for the following file is also only for Ver 5.09
"ProfiLux 3, User defined Webpages - Eigene Webseiten erstellen, Firmware 5.09, English"

Can a file, to include all current tokens and examples on how to use them, be created for Firmware 5.15.1 please.

Thank You
Paul from NZ

I found a bug in the upgrade. I lost my ATO function. I have checked Level, Soket Function, but, it is not coming on. Going to play with it for a while and check a few other things. On the on the Profilux display, the error says "levelc" all lower case.

Not sure if its a bug in the firmware or meant to be like this but, I'm experiencing the following: (Profilux 3ex, PCL 5.1.5.1, Firmware 5.15 (Date Jan 4th))

In Processes, Timer 2 for example, if I select a specific timer I want to delete, no matter what I select, it will always delete the last item on the list. E.g. If I have a control to turn on sometime and 1am, 2am, 3am, 3:30am, 4am and 5am. I then highlight/select 3:30am to delete. It deletes the 5am entry, then if I select 3:30am again, it deletes 4am etc.

Hello Jason

thanks for this hint.
I checked this and found out that ProfiLuxControl does not delete the selected item.
This will be corrected in PLC 5.1.5.3

BTW - the final firmware 5.15 (release) is from 17. Jan

BTW - the final firmware 5.15 (release) is from 17. Jan

Updating my PL3 last night I found two minor issues which I also noted at the update before:

The latitude value stays as before, but the prefix has changed from north to south -> I´m sure I´ve changed that also at last update
In the webserver menue the value for the port has changed from 80 to 12 - also this value has changed itself at last update. Maybe this is the reason why some people are not able to reach the webserver after a firmware update anymore.

So I have here a list of things I have to do and check after a firmware update and unfortunately it´s growing ....

delete the user files in werbserver (if I do not, my user files are not reachable)
upload of my user files
check if the webserver port is still 80
check if the latitude is still north

thanks for the hints, we check this for the next version

Where can I find the profiluxcontrol manual. I can't find one. Only the 3A manual.

Do you mean the manual for the ProfiLux 3.1A? This can be found here:

is it safe and stable to be installed on the system ?

JasonK

Yes, The Jan 17th firmware release was a stable release.

Matthias (http://forum.aquariumcomputer.com/member.php?1-Matthias),

Should updating the WebServer, ServerPort and saving it automatically take effect? I had to reboot my profilux before the Webserver moved ports from old to new.

17th january? For till now this firmware has a problems...

I have a question, Are you working to resolve problems with update setting and stable?

JasonK
03.02.2013, 23:11
smithpl, I would consider the Jan 17th version a stable release. The webport setting needing a profilux reboot to pickup the new port number could be by design and its not something that people change regularly anyway. There are no problems or items of concern from my perspective.

what needs to be backed up prior to the upgrade of the firmware?

JasonK
06.02.2013, 00:13
(For completeness on this thread as I see you asked the same question on the App Release)
Write your settings out to file, I do this as part of any firmware upgrade. (and not just for the Profilux)

In Profilux Control Its in File, Transmit All Settings From Profilux to File.

chercm
06.02.2013, 00:26
Is it after the upgrade u will use the restore function to put back the settings ?

JasonK
06.02.2013, 00:30
No. After a normal firmware upgrade, all your settings should still be intact and you would not need to use the exported settings. It takes less than a minute to save all your settings to a file, and its a backup/failsafe and a good to have.

If for whatever reason your upgrade fails, e.g. you loose a USB connection during the download to the Profilux and you need to reflash the deceive manually, having all your settings backed up in a file would assist in getting you back up and running once you have applied the firmware again.

Lose a USB? Are we back to a USB don't we have to invent the weal by finding an old computer with rs232?

JasonK

I was using usb as an example. My point being its always a good idea to backup your settings, just in case.
