Matthias/GHL:

What exactly are the Hyper-Violets for in the Mitras and what will they compare to that's currently on the market? I'm just trying to explain to a potential Mitras customer the use and function of Hyper Violet in the mixture and why they NEED them for their reef tank.

Hyper Violet LED's are also known as UV LED although strictly speaking they are not all in the UV curve they fall right on the edge.

There is much hypothosis within the coral world what truly is the peak UV nm for corals, the GHL Mitras covers 380-420nm. Below 400nm is not visible light where as anything above 400nm is visible and not strictly UV. As 380-420nm is not ALL in the UV range to call the LED UV would not strictly be true, so Hyperviolet is a more accurate term.

But the important point is the GHL Mitras provides UV in a range that is deemed useful within the sprectal range for coral absorption and as also found in T5 and HQi bulbs, making the Mitras Hyperviolet a full spectrum LED.
