View Full Version : What is the need dimmer lambs?
Hi eveyone,
I need information for lightning. I have GHL Profilux II Plus. I want dimmer 4 T5 and T8 fluorecent lamp with it. But I don't know exactly what I need for this. I think I need another equipment exepct dimmer balast. For example do I need EVG-AP-2F?

Erkan
Yes, you will need EVG-AP2.
On each EVG-AP2 you can connect 2 dimming ballasts (1 dimming ballast can light up 1,2,3 or 4 lamps, depending on the ballast).
1-10V line from profilux goes to EVGS and from there to ballasts.
The power cable goes also to EVGS and from there to ballasts.
So, if you want 4 T5 light up in pairs, you will need 2 ballast (that can take 2 lamps each) & 1 EVG.
If you want 4 T5 bulbs to be able to dimm each one alone, you will need 4 ballast (that can take 1 lamp each) and 2 EVGS.
It is depending on your needs what exactly you will need, but with Profilux everything is possible.
Thanks you Almost,
Thanks for your reply. For 4 T5 and 2 T8 lamb do I have to use the following equipments?
- OSRAM QTI Dali 2x36 T8 Lamp 1 item
- OSRAM QTI Dali 2x21/39 T5 Lamp 2 item
- GHL EVG-AP-2F 3 item
Can you check it please?
Erkan
If T8 lamps are 36W each, then OSRAM QTI Dali 2x36 T8 Lamp will do.
You will need 2x OSRAM QTI Dali 2x21/39 T5 Lamp because each one can hold 2x 21W or 2x 39W T5 (if your lamps are 21 or 39W).
So, you will need 3 ballasts total.
For the EVGS, sory I cann't help since I am using 1-10V ballasts in my system.
Someone using Dali could help.
Hi Almost,
Which one can I use for EVG-AP-2F, 1-10v control or DALI balast?
Thanks.

Hello Erkan,
to our EVG-AP you can connect 1-10V-ballasts, DALI ballasts are connected at our DALI-extension card, called "PLM-DALI".
Dear Carolin,
Thanks for your reply. What's your advice? Which one is better dali or 1-10V control system? As I see in its cataloque 50 lamp can be conneconnected at the same time. Also can I use it with osram dali balast?
One more question is can I connect T5 and T8 balast at the same time to this unit?
As I explained before for 4 T5 and 2 T8 lamp, one dali card will be enough?
Thanks.
Erkan.

DALI is a control bus (approximately to a serial interface) for illumination. For DALI you have to buy a PLM-DALI.
Therefore it doesen't matter what kind of lamp is connected, if connected to a DALI ballast.
In an 1-10V system the illumination is simply controlled with a analog 1-10V signal. The ProfiLux has four built in 1-10V channels (so called L ports). If the ballast doesn't support shut off (lamp completely off at 0%) you need EVG-AP (single lamp) or EVG-AP2 (dual lamp).
Dear Frank, thanks for your replay. I have a one more questions. How many balast can I connect to Dali? Also do you have a connection diagram for dali?
Thanks

just connect the 2 control outputs of the DALI-card with the control inputs of your DALI-ballast, all devices in a DALI network are connected in parallel
Thanks Matthais. But do you have DALI card + and - input correct to connection is imported

as written in the PLM-DALI manual:
Using the shipped screw terminal you can connect a wire to your DALI devices. A maximum of 50 devices can be
connected in parallel to this data bus; the polarity hereby doesn’t matter.
Thanks Matthias , i have got a big problem. I can connect to all cable balanst and tubes and DALI card. I can use PTC 5.0.4.2 and PII Plus 5.04a version. I setting is below but my lamp not dimming. My lamps light %0 or %100.NOT %70.
DALI card connecting blue cable and red cable for balanst. How can control correct working the DALI and balanst
Please help me.

I must admit it is not easy to understand what you've written here
the DALI-ballasts are connected correctly
did you assign numbers to the DALI-ballasts?
is this the problem: the DALI ballasts respond to Profilux (respectively to the PLM-DALI), but they are only working on 0% or 100%, no steps between?
Dear Matthias,
Thanks for at least trying to understand:) the problem is that the ballasts are not dimming. May you please tell me the process to create numbering in Dali menu to P2?And after this process, what am I supposed to do? Could you please explain the process step by step? Thanks.

Hello,
as soon as you connect the ballasts to the DALI-card, they are shown up as for example Ballast No. 1, Ballast No. 2 etc.
At that moment you can assign an illumination "channel" resp. run (for example "Illumination 1" for ballast no. 1) to the ballasts. Perhaps you have missed this step?

the DALI ballasts must be get numbers and be assigned to the illumination channels, this has to be done on the ProfiLux itself
see chapter 6.12 DALI in the prgramming guide
Thaks for your replay Matthias. My reply to late sorry, i am out of city. I check to connection DALI and ballasts. It is OK.
It is working my system .Many thanks.
