A bit of advise before upgrading to any firmware.
Quit reefstatus or marinemad logger!!
it happened to me twice and had to upgrade firmware with the flasher program..
As i was updating through serial port one of the two loggers tried to grab data and caused a crash on the update procedure....
i have rescued my P3 using the FR program with sucess...
it happened to me twice when i upgraded to 5.02 and now to 5.03a so there must be something going on right???
cheers

Yes, we recommend to close all Background Software if doing a firmware upgrade.

maybe the ethernet port can be disabled while flashing.
(selectable option while updating => like disabling all sockets to avoid switching spike for the USB flash thingy ? )

*double post*
it would actualy be nice to be able to do firmware upgrade over the lan :)

The LAN Port can't be disabled - but this is not necessary, because the LAN Port isn't active during flash activity anyways.

Depends on the "loggers" - there are tools on the market, which just poll data per RS232, so he maybe is very right.

but if he was updating the FW the serial port should have been in use ???
or what do I miss ?
loggers will allow you to split or mirror the trafic or a rs-323 port. You can have a harware version or do it via software. When I started doing the developement initialy for the PII i used to go it alot :)
