Ok I may be using the wrong "term" up there in my Threat Title but I can't remember exactly what their labeled as..... what I'm wanting to do is to rename things like:

Illumination #1 to White/Blue LEDS
Illumination #2 to Red/Orange LEDS
Illumination #3 to T5's
Illumination #4 to MH's
Illumination #5 to Fuge Lights

on the Screen when viewing the Controller and on the PC when using the software.

So the "Scrolling" screen would show something like
(this is my mid-evening scenario with my lights

White/Blue LEDS at 90%
Red/Orange LEDS at 20%
T5's at 100%
MH's at 100%
Fuge Lights at 0%

Is it possible to rename these for the VIEW SCREEN(s) only?

I would like to have the comment be displayed and stored on the Profilux so that it's portable and not static on the computer that was used to setup the Profilux.

Would the comment field work for you in this case or do you use the comment field for something else?

Is this for me? If so I'm lost (what's new right?). . .

heheh ya it was for you BigAl,

In PLC you can have comments, so you could set :
Illumination #1 to White/Blue LEDS
Illumination #2 to Red/Orange LEDS
Illumination #3 to T5's
Illumination #4 to MH's
Illumination #5 to Fuge Lights

in the comments field and then disply the comment field istead of the "real" name like Illumination #X. Matthias told me that this feature was going to be included in the next release.

Ahh gotcha... I'll be watching for that in the next release then. That's exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully it wont be long now :)

Thank you!!

Hey guys, has anyone heard about whether or not this is possible yet? I see the spot where you can rename it in the "discription Profiluxcontrol", which is editable, and then next to it is the "discription in profilux" but this field is not changeable?
Any help would be fantastic.
thanks

It is.

but this field is not changeable?
You need PL firmware 5.0.9 and PLC 5.0.9.1

I'm confused, I have PLC 5.0.9.1 and FW 5.0.9 and I can change both the description in Profilux Control and Profilux but I can only see the "Illumination x" under viewable elements within the Display options - am I missing something? Andy

I've changed the description of the probes, socket and 1-10v.

Today I turned off the ProfiLux to organize, when I turned on ProfiLux all descriptions are missing.

Now, there are strange symbols (Ë~Zÿ??ï÷GϪë[ËK)

Why??

Thanks.

Did you make a firmware update? Then this could happen.
To prevent this, store the settings with PLC and reload it, if necessary.

On which Firmware version are we talking about?

Are profilux description storeded in volatile or non volatile?

Matthias
30.06.2011, 13:25
they are stored in NON-volatile memory of course

EgaReef, did you change something in the hardware configuration?

boboxx
30.06.2011, 16:22
they are stored in volatile memory of course

...so everytime my profilux loses power, I have to re-enter the names? can they be stores in the non volatile like the rest of my configs?

seems like settings them would be just another hassle if it needs to be done everytime :((( (to a level that his feature would be somewhat useless )

... yes I agree also.

Well it looks like there is a bug in 5.09, I had set all my name on illumination, probes and socket a few weeks ago. I had to power down the profilux today and when I powered back up I had lost all of my custom text. Every text was replaced by the strange symbols (Ë~Zÿ??ï÷GϪë[ËK) like above.

This is on a P3EX with a Expantion box, adin and temp/humidity card (In P3).

So I set the text again and powercycled to see and infact I am loosing all my texts on powercycle.

Sorry, I was on summer holidays.

No, I have not changed anything.

back to this topic:

my descriptions never disappeared so far, no matter what I did

so I ask you for your help - under whicht circumstances does this happen?
- after power reset?
- just without a reason?
- after changing specific settings or configuration?
- after uploading user files to the web interface?
... ?

EgaReef

After power reset.

boboxx
08.08.2011, 15:33

Matthias

I think I found it - is it possible that you use Spanish and French firmware? If yes - I think it is solved in 5.10

EgaReef
09.08.2011, 11:37
Maybe, I have the firmware in Spanish.

boboxx
09.08.2011, 12:42
