i have a p3 and after 2-3 days of not using the profilux sofware the lan connection is lost. i have tried the p2 that i also have that has a lan card in it and that stays connected , never had a problem with the p2 in 2 years.
if i use the usb lead to comunicate ,the lan is restored after i disconnect the usb lead. 2-3 days later lost the lan again , (p2 still working by the way). both unit have static addresses.

pc control : ProfiLuxControl_V5010

firmware on p3 : V501

firmware on p2 : V500l

Hi,

Same problems here with a P3 wired LAN. I have tested with static and dynamic IP adress, with and without port-forwarding, but after 2 -3 days the connection is lost. Last Thursday I have powered-off and again on my Profilux -> LAN works.
Friday and Saturday no problems.
Yesterday (Sunday) I tried to connect -> couldn't connect.

My Fritz!Box router recognizes a working Lan connection and the Profilux LAN LEDs are blinking when I ping my Profilux, but I can't connect and pinging results in a "Destination Host Unreachable".

jjb says something about interference with the USB connection, i can't confirm that.

Any ideas?

I've tried to reproduce this on a long weekend without any luck.

The ProfiLux was connected for four days to a wired LAN, but without a connection via PLC or web interface. After these four days I've connected via PLC and web interface without any problems.

At the moment I have no idea which problem this could be.

IP address conflict can be excluded? MAC address of your PL3 (PLC LAN Propperties)?

just checked today and its lost its connection again, its lasted about a week . i will see what happens this time next week.

Did you checked the IP addresses for a conflict? It is important that ther is no other device with the same IP in the network.

Could you tell us your MAC address of your ProfiLux3 reported by PLC?

hi frank
all the items on the network have a static address:
pc1 ***.***.***.01
pc2 ***.***.***.02
pc3 ***.***.***.03
printer ***.***.***.12
network harddrive ***.***.***.20
profilux piii ***.***.***.08

wireless ports are switched off on the router.
the backup profilux pii (spare just in case) witch i have, never lost its connection and never did in 2 years ***.***.***.07
just set up log reporting on the router to see any changes over the next week.

Ok, the IPs are not the problem.
What about your ProfiLux3 MAC address (six hexadecimal numbers)?

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your research.
I've checked my IP range again and again, but I don't see a problem:
192.168.178.1 Fritz.Box Router (static)
192.168.178.2 HP Laserjet (static)
192.168.178.20 till 192.168.178.99 DHCP range (5 adresses reserved)
192.168.178.100 Profilux 3 (static)

The MAC Address is also unique [00 50 C2 B8 10 D7].

I also have some trouble with my LAN connection.

My Profilux 3 EX is connected to a managed Cisco switch, when I connected it for the first time, I received errors on the port. This is mostly caused by a failed auto-negotiation. So I forced the port to operate at 10Mbit, this fixed most of my problems. Maybe is it possible to set the duplex and speed settings in the Profilux?

Also I see something stange, what is the MTU value of the Profilux? It should be 1500 bytes. But when I do a ping-test, i can't send packets above 1472 bytes.

macbook-pro-van-math:~ math$ ping -s 1472 192.168.10.200
PING 192.168.10.200 (192.168.10.200): 1472 data bytes

^C
--- 192.168.10.200 ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 12.011/12.288/12.580/0.202 ms
macbook-pro-van-math:~ math$ ping -s 1474 192.168.10.200
PING 192.168.10.200 (192.168.10.200): 1474 data bytes

Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
^C
--- 192.168.10.200 ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss

both issues could cause ALOT of problems.

@math
Our MTU is 1500.
If you try to test the MTU with a ping you have to add 8 bytes for the ICMP header and 20 bytes for the IP header.
If you generate a ping with 1472 data bytes you get: 1472 + 8 + 20 = 1500

I would suggest checking the Lan Cable & what switch / router is the profilux connected to?

I would try run a ping -t to the ip of the profilux to make sure the network interface is being kept alive.

@ Frank Does the profilux support SNMP?

GHL Support

SNMP support isn't available - not implemented.
I could vaguely remember on a web site reporting auto neogation problems with cisco routers or switches. But I'm not sure about it...

I don't know if something has changed with LAN in the newer firmware versions, but since the update to 5.02f and PC 5.0.2.5, I don't have LAN problems anymore.

Nice to hear that. :)

We optimized the webserver communication in the newest version. Maybe some LAN problems were affected with this.
