View Full Version : Expansion Box?
Hi, I want to be able to see and control: pH, Temp, CondS, ORP in an aquarium locating in another room from the main aquarium in which the PIII ex is connected.
So, I will need an expansion Box.
Is there only one Expansion Box in which I order seperate extension cards to build it or it comes with some slots in it?
What is/are the PL numbers to make the order?
Thanks!
The expansion box has exactly what you need. PH, ORP, Temp, CondS.
O.K. Thanks.
So, there is onle one expansion box? If I needed something less I would have to pay for all that?
PL number?
yes it's all built in as a base... you also get 4 option card slots to expand.
Not sure what the PL number is, but there is only one :)
O.K.
Thank you very much for your reply!
(I asked twice because my dealer said that he do not know which one I have to order and he would ask Ghl).
P3 on top. Below Expansion Box.

until now there is only 1 version of the Ex box.
Thank you all for your answers, I allready contact the dealer to order it.
As I am waiting for my ex box to arrive, I whould like to know how many ex boxs can be connected simultaneously in 3ex?
Is there a number of probes that 3ex can handdle and above that number malfunctions may begin? ("overloaded" with probes?)
Must I upgrade the version of the profi to 5.00p to operate the ex box?

To get you exbox connected to your P3 look here:
http://www.aquariumcomputer.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=1395
( can't be done via plc)
no recent changes are done on the functional part of the exbox , but fw p and the leasted plc 5.0.0.12 is a kinda must have to have a stable computer<>P3 connection.
then for the exbox, there is a recent fw (via the plc software)

How will I know if expansion box have the newest firmware before I connected to 3ex?
No monitor on it.
How can I check the firmware of the 6D powerbar?

at the moment you can't - ProfiLuxControl does it not display yet
feature will come with future update
until then: if you are not sure about the firmware and you want the newest firmware then just update the newest one - in the worst case you overwrite a firmware with the same function, but this doesn't matter
Once again, thanks Matthias.

Hi
32 probes can be handled
amount of boxes is not limited - the limitation comes from the max. allowed count of probes, interfaces etc.
Is it possible to connect a usb card and a profilux view II or III in the expansion box (located in another room) and another profilux view II or III in the P3 so as to have 2 monitors in 2 different rooms?
Also would like to ask if it is possible to connect an expansion box in PAB wireless?
(Not all rooms in the house with utp cables)
PS:when can we expect view III?

communication cards (like PLM-USB and PLM-RS232) aren't supported from the expansion box yet, but this comes in future firmware releases
View 3: I am sorry but I am still not able to give here a precise information
So I'll have to wait. :)
Thanks again!

Don't think so , To my understanding PAB is a (2 wire ?) bus system. It just uses the CAT cable to connect but communication is by no means compatible with ethernet/wifi etc...

Blahenazo is right, a wireless connection for the PAB isn't possible.
It's complete different to Ethernet.
So, that could be one of your later on products!

can i use the 2L4S or PLM-ADIN card in the expansion box yet ?
Either one would be good as i am waiting on this for expansion.

the PLM-2L4S is already working in our version 5.02 which is currently under development
if the digital inputs of the PLM-ADIN will work in 5.02 is not clear yet

Well i am already running 5.01b and 1.02 in the expansion box.
When will you be releasing 5.02 ?
If the expansion box can use PLM-2L4S i can move some PLM-2L4S to free some slots in the PIIIex to put the PLM-ADIM card.
The PLM-ADIM card works properly in the PIIIex?
My expansion just arriveed (I am waiting now for the second one :D).
I am going to make the wire to connect it to IIIex and want to ask: how many wires inside the cable?
2, 4, 6 or 8 ?
If wires on socket are 12345678, and the cable uses for example 2 wires, that will be number 4 & 5?

just make a lan cable just like the one that is together with the P3/PAB normally there should be a pab cable in there.
Yes, I can find.
But I need about 40mtrs and the price is different for 2-4-6 or 8 wires cable.
So, if only 2 wires needed, why pay for 8?

you want to save money on a 40 meter utp cable ??
Just get utp cable :) Can't be more then a few dollar you can save there.
while you prolly invested alot more $$$ in your profilux :))))
Its about 100$, I contact technician to chnage the wires in house.
Working great!
Wish it had a power led (green) and communication led (yellow) like the powerbar..
Hi, I have a PIII ex and I have used all 6 1-10v interface sockets for my lights. I need to add a few more L 1-10v infterface sockets to control my Tunze pumps. Is the expansion box what I need to do this ? Is this my only option?
Regards,
Hemoi

if there are slots free in your P3 eX you can add a PLM-4L (which gives you 4 additional 1-10V-interfaces) card to the P3eX
