Serial port via USB has disappeared

I installed the new GHL Control Center V1.1.4.1 software onto my laptop. It worked as expected and the device manager showed the Serial port emulator and I updated my Profilux 4 firmware successfully to the latest standard. After the Profilux rebooted, GCC failed to connect and when checking the settings saw that the Port emulator was not listed under ports.

Ho other activities on the PC had been carried out. Has anyone any ideas what might have happened and how I can fix it. It would be useful to know when the inf file is so I can try to manually install it.

I think you may have misunderstood me. The Profilux update was a total success. The problem is that the Virtual com port disappeared from my PC, directly after my Profilux update and I cannot do the updates on my wife's P4 and the Dosers that we have.

In this case, the problem probably comes from your computer or from the USB cable used?
Can you show a screenshot of the device manager at the COM & LPT Ports section.
