plus II ex. firmware 4.05 wanting to upgrade

I have the AI lite system on order. Its going to be 2-6 weeks to get it in. Reading I see the new AI I have coming will not work with this older firmware. I am wanting to upgrade. I just got this used controller last week so I want to make sure I do it right. Should I download the 5.0 version and if so what and how do I do it? I have the controller connected to the PC with the USB option. I loaded the driver and its working fine but I want to use it to its full potential when I get the light. Also will I lose all the settings I have made ior can I save them with an update. Any and all info wold be appreciated.

it's quite simple: use the Firmware-Update function of ProfiLuxControl and follow the instructions

settings can't be saved in 4.xx and loaded in 5.xx because these fw-versions are not compatible

ok the problem I am having is when I save the file to my desktop or anywhere I can not find the dang file??????????????? When I try to find it in the desktop it does not give me the option for all files just says firmware[*.mhx] Also will I be able to do this with usb connection not rs232. I currently use the USB to connect with my PC.

well its all messed up now. It started to download then I got an error and it all froze up. Now it will not connect????????????????

possible because of the USB and not rs232? Can I got out and buy an rs232 cable at a computer store to make this work?

wierd I got it to connect again restarting the unit. Looks like my old savings were not messed up either. So do I need to rs232 connection to do this update or can it work with the usb connection?

On my P2 ex I only had serial so I only updated via serial ( with an off the shelf serial to Usb convertor)

now on the P3 I updated over serial, usb.

be careful according GHL you can only use there serial cable !
