Have you gone throught the documents found HERE (http://www.aquariumcomputer.com/Download/Tutorial_LAN_WLAN_eng.pdf)

If your router have WEP active you need to temporarally disable.
Follow the instructions and let us know if you have any issues

JasonMcK

So it would look like your PCs IP is 192.168.1.101 do you have any other comuters attached to the router?

If you type into IE 192.168.1.1 this will take you to your router confige. From there you can check Status and see all assigned IP address. Basically you need to assign a static IP for the Profilux. Google how to do that or check our Router Docs.

An example of an IP you can assign to the Profilux is 192.168.1.199 or something
Sorry it would be very difficult to make a post on how to do this as each Router is different.

my router is linsys wrt54g thanks

JasonMcK

You will not find the address of your Profilux but you can reserve an address to set your Profilux to.

SO you have 3 computers attanched to that router so 3 addresses are already take.

I'm sorry I do not know every router but typically there is a Status page that will tell you who is connected from that page you can tell what IP addresses are used and what are free. As suggested I would guess that 192.168.1.199 is a safe bet to be free why not start with that

Just responding to your PM.

I can not teach you about your Router as I do not know a lot about it.

I just downloaded the manual.
So when you log in you will see a black bar at the top of the page with the main tabs just below it in blue are the sub tabs. I believe the far right tab is STATUS if you then select Local Network you will see a page with a grey button at the bottom that says DHCP client table Click this and it will display all the computers attached to your router. Post what is there

During set up you must turn off wireless security on the router.
You have to connect to the Profilux before you can program the WEP string to the Profilux

BTW is this PII or PIII

I still think you have a networking issue. You should not loose the Internet when you disable you wireless security. I'm sorry I can't be of more help but you need to get your router able to see your Profilux before you can attempt to connect.

Also I would look into getting a RS232 cable you will need it for firmware upgrades

For Wireless
With Router WEP off
on the profilux have you inputed the information under WLAN
SSID is the Router name Defaut is Linksys
Do not select adhoc select the other one (sorry at work)
then input the IP you can use automatically but inputing one is better
How about 192.168.1.105
Then OK

OK so take a look at the router table again and you should now see another devise hooked up to your Router that would be the Profilux

Hardwired
are you saying you have a CAT5 cable from the Profilux to the Router?

That is fine. WEP and WPA are both securities used by your router.
The reason your Laptop can not communicate when you turn it off is becasue it have been programed to communicate with the router with WPA enabled.

You still need to turn WPA off and try again to look for the Profilux on the Router page.

If you have a friend or someone who set up your router it might be better. I'm running out of ways to help you

I think you will not have the WLAN-problems with Neptune - just because they don't have a WLAN-interface

I recommend you to obtain a serial cable for the ProfiLux and do the WLAN settings using ProfiLuxControl according to these instructions:
http://www.aquariumcomputer.com/Download/Tutorial_LAN_WLAN_eng.pdf

the problem in this case is that we can't fix possible WLAN issues or not matching settings at your home from afar, this has nothing to do with poor support

what i mean by poor support is when i ask question and i have to wait and wait for a few day with no respond,,and then i have to pm jason asking for help then he is the only one did help me,,,beside him,,no body would bother,,that is very poor support i think

the P3 has a built in lan, usb and serial connection

For the PII you can look at the PLM-LAN it's card that will give you a hard wire connection

After a firmware update to 5.00 you have to use the newest PLC (ProfiLux Control) software. Deinstall your old PLC software and install the newest one if your ProfiLux running with firmware 5.00.

PLC V4.08 only works with firmware 4.08
PLC V5.00 only works with firmware 5.00

Look at the download section:

ProfiLux Control 5.0.0.7 and 5.0.0.8 Beta are for ProfiLux 3 AND ProfiLux II with firmware 5.00i and later.

You can go back to Firmware 4.08, if you install the ProfiLux Control 5.00 software. Before you must remove (uninstall) the ProfiLux Control 4.08 software.
Then connect to ProfiLux and update the firmware to 4.08.
After then you have to uninstall ProfiLux Control 5.00 and reinstall ProfiLux Control 4.08.

This might be a bit late now but I'll post it anyway as it may help someone esle.

OK, you should be able to find the GHL IP from the front panel of the GHL (GHL 3 EX) unit. System > Communications > Onboard Lan (you may have onboard WiFi, I don’t have a wifi card so not sure)
Your router will most likely be issuing IP’s to devices connected. Your router ip is 192.168.1.1 so you’re other devices addresses will be 192.168.1.x (anything from .2 to .254)
You can find your computer IP by opening a command prompt and typing “ipconfig” without the “” or right clicking on the network icon in the bottom right and selection status and support. This is depending on your PC operating system.
You can “Ping” IP’s from the command prompt to see if they respond by typing “ping 192.192.168.1” so if you only have a couple of computers chances are your IP’s are 192.168.1.1 , 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3 and so on.

Alternatively you can download an ipscanner (Angry IP) which will scan the range and tell you what IP's are live.

The post you made at 1.55 discloses your Public IP address, 75.73.33.237. If you have opened up access to your GHL via the web interface I would advise setting up a pin otherwise we can all log into your GHL box and have a play!

Hope this helps

Andrew

ok after i done with this last step and saved but when i go back it,,nothing has been save ,i have to start over with adding ip # and add LTRX-IBSS into controller again

• Thereafter the SSID (Service Set Identifier, names your wireless network) has to be
entered. Ex works LTRX_IBSS is set.
• To save these settings in the (W)LAN-card you have to confirm now by selecting yes and
pressing Return.
After performing preceding steps you set a static IP-address; the ProfiLux can be accessed under
this address. In the event a WLAN-card has been adjusted additionally the type of the network
topology (ad hoc or infrastructure) and the SSID has been set.

then i look into my router there is no Ip address that i added into controller
and i did follow this step from w-lan turial
• To setup the LAN-card or WLAN-card click on the corresponding icon; then press
Configuration. Now the configuration dialog is opened.

even when i look into router and no is no ip address in router

• Deactivate your wireless network security temporally to be able for establishing a

• Start your internet browser (e.g. IE or Navigator) and enter the previous set IP-address in

section.
After setting IP-address, SSID and network topology the radio network security settings are left. If
your wireless network is unprotected (not recommended) you need not to do further settings.
Otherwise proceed as following:
• Deactivate your wireless network security temporally to be able for establishing a
connection to the WLAN-card.
• Start your internet browser (e.g. IE or Navigator) and enter the previous set IP-address in
the address field. In this example the IP-address 192.168.0.170 has been entered.

i did everythiing like above (deactivate wireless) but when i start internet brower with ip address 192.168.1.100 (same ip i added controller)
small window didn't pop up,,,,,,what should i do nowwwwwwww???

Matthias
12.02.2010, 16:41
in the previous post you wrote "and the small window did pop up"
now you wrote "small window didn't pop up"

I am confused - what do you mean with small window?

if your router "sees" the IP of the ProfiLux it must be possible to access it.
First simple test: Try to ping 192.168.1.100 - result?
What about your firewall?
Does your router block the connection to the ProfiLux?

kvmn
12.02.2010, 17:25
sorry i did miss typping,,,the small window never pop up so( its didn't)

after browser internet IP address 192.168.1.100 then there is should be a small window pop up so i can enter user name and password in

i will keep try different ip address to see what happen and check on firewall as well thanks

I can see that you are strugeling some basics here.
I found some points to check.
Which SSID was used in the PLC? "LTRX_IBSS" is ex works but you need to set your SSID first to make connection. Default is "linksys"
Also you must setup a new wireless connection on your laptop to be able to connect to the PLC.
Try these steps in order:
1: Disable the WEB security in your router NOT the wireless.
2: Check which SSID is used (default "linksys") and make sure this is set in your PLC (and your laptop and your router, all the same).
3: Set the IP address for WLAN in PLC to 192.168.1.70 (by default the linksys DHCP server start at 192.168.1.100 so do not use 100 till 150 at the end) Actually you should follow the instructions as in the (W)LAN – Tutorial

4: Set your laptop wireless connection without WEP, you should be able to connect to the internet at this point.
5: Open you browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) and type in the address bar 192.168.1.99.

This should do the job and give you the login page for PLC.
If you are unable to do the above I advice you to google make yourself confortable with wireless LAN.
Success

sorry kvmn!
Small correction. in 3 I said to set the PLC address to 192.168.001.070. Please also use the same address in point 5. = 192.168.1.70
Also your WLAN network ïs "infrastructure" so in PLC do set Ad-hoc to NO.

Some networking: (Simple but not complete!)
Each device in a network has an IP address, your router (192.168.1.1) your PC (192.168.1.101) your Iphone (192.168.1.142) ect. Your router takes care of automatic addressing by means of it's DHCP server. The DHCP server assigns automatically addresses. The pool of addresses your modem (with DHCP server) assigns starts at 100. This is why your PC has 101 and your laptop 100. this is all automatic taken care off. However, you can not use 100 as that is (or might be) already assigned.
Some devices need to be set their address manually. The PLC also.
Therefore as I explained set the address of your PLC to 192.168.001.070. This is outside the automatic pool and so it can not be assigned to anything else. Leave all settings in the modem as they are. Just follow each step in my previous mail and do not change any other setting.
As the title say, use google and wikipedia to understand the settings. This may help you understand better what you are doing.
success

NO! this is to change your router access password. Please READ the manual of your linksys. Check the Wireless security pages.
Also please read what is written if you go to the setup page of your router.
If you are not sure you better ask someone who know how to set up.
I do not think I should explain how to setup your router in this forum but you can check this page on how to change your setting.

Hi KVMN
Make sure the SSID (wireless network name) is the same in all your setting in both the PLC and router (and laptop, and iphone etc.). It does not matter if this is "linksys" or "LTRX_IBXX" or even "cervessa". All wireless connections need to be the same to connect to your wireless network. Check what SSID is used in your router and use that name in your PLC.
The network address need to be 192.168.1.xxx. For your PLC you can use any figure between 1 and 255 except for 100-150 as this is the DHCP pool of your router's DHCP (default setting). This is why I used 70 (easy to remember). Feel free to use 170! this is also outside the DHCP pool
If WEP is disabled, everyone can use your network (if they know) so this is temporally till you have access to your PLC. Then you can revert it to WEP enabled again. But that is the next step. First get connected to your PLC!
Some private question, what is you native language?

Kees
