Powerbars must always be connected to S-ports! Otherwise ProfiLux may be destroyed!
The L-ports are 1-10V interfaces which are used to control dimmable lamps or current pumps.

This is all mentioned in the manual and additionally in a warning leaflet which comes with every ProfiLux.

Yes, in order to dim/control a dimmable lamp you don't need the Powerbar. Just connect it to one of the L-ports of the 1-10V-interfaces. That's all.

I see potential confusion here.

To dim a lamp you need "dimmable ballasts"

A dimmable ballast has a 1-10V interface, this connects to one of your L ports.

The AC power from the dimmable ballast can either come from the power bar OR you can use the EVG-AP card.

Without dimmable ballasts you will not dim your lamp.
