What is DALI?
The card PLM-DALI is able to control ballasts or other dimmable devices (e.g. transformers for halide lamps) with DALI. DALI is a digital bus interface, that means all devices are connected over just one twowire cable. The differentiation is achieved through different addresses.
Advantages over the 1-10V interface are mainly the much easier wiring and the complete shut-off at 0% (using a 1-10V-interface an external shut-off circuit is needed, e.g. EVG-AP).

Technical data
- Up to 50 devices can be connected to one PLM-DALI
- The devices can be divided into 16 groups, each group represents one ProfiLux illumination channel
- DALI-port is galvanically isolated

what are some of the available dali ballast

any ballast which is conform to the DALI standard
Most ballast manufacturers offer them, e.g. Osram or Sylvania

Will you sell the 80w T5 dali ballast from osram?

For all North American clients Dali in in T5 HO is still only available in 54watt by ALL manufacturers :mad:

Suggestion - Do what i have done, install a 220V line :D

If i get one DALI card how do i connect to the EVG unit?
All cabels to the Dali unit or how do i do?
I plan to build a new dimmeble light with 10 T5 light (5x 2x39watt)

DALI has got 2 wires for controlling. (called DA and DB) Each EVG get the same 2 wires from the card. So maybe it is better to collect all EVG Datalines to a wire nut (DA and DB on seperate ones) inside your lamp and get out of the lamp with only 2 wires to the dali card. On this way you dont have such a mess with all the cables.
But, your way will work also.

Okey. but how can it know witch EVG it should dimm if you connect 5 evg to the same DADB

Each Dali EVG will get an unique adress in a Dali bus system. This happends automatik.
There will be an manual that comes with the Dali Card that will explain how to connect and how it will work.

Great! Any news when it will be available and do you have a price for the Osram EVG's?

each ballast has a unique address - ProfiLux can assign an illumination channel to each address
-> just wire all ballasts in parallel - this is the main advantage of DALI

I think it can because i have 3 expansion slots.

NO it just ties in when distributors next order, the card is available right now just up to the distributors to get into stock.

Is it just to plugin the card when it cames or is a new firmwire to ho have to be installed

you need 4.06 with DALI-support

when will 4.06 be available and will it have any other updates or just Dali support

4.06 comes in this week

it will have DALI support and if there is some more time left we will add some other features

Do osram make metal halide ballast suitable for the Dali feature? And would you know when the Dali feature makes it to Australia?

DALI will be available in Australia - because DALI ballast are available in 24W ... 80W for 220V-240V.
DALI MH ballast - I don't know their plans - maybe you find some information on their website.

Yes, you are right, but there is only a 54 Watt T5 EVG with DALI that is good with aquatic lightbars. On all other typs there will be no fluorescent tube
for your tank or let me say nothing with a special collor of the fluorescent tube for aqaristic.

What do you mean martin? I found 80w EVG from osram for T5 with Dali protocol in a German webshop. Are you telling me these are not good?

to resolve the confusion:

1. Osram offers for all T5 wattages DALI-ballasts for 220-240v and we sell these Osram ballasts - no problems for customers with 220V-240V at home
2. Sylvania offers only 110V-DALI ballasts in 54W for T5 - problem for Northamerica

Thanks GHl for the Dali option and card. It works great and nice to have the EVG dimmeble down to 1%

But one question. What should i set the option to Minimal dimlevel

What is the best value and what happens with the evg if i set it lover or higer value

when using Osram DALI ballasts you need not to change the setting, the standard value 85 is OK

Back again.

Do you know what the value of 85 is. what happens if the value is lower like 10 instead of 85.

i wonder if i can set my 2x39watt T5 lower in light i think 1% is to mutch over my tank

this is the physical limit of this ballast for the lowest brightness

if you change it you will not get a lower brightness, the result will be that 1% of ProfiLux will not correspond to the minimum power output of the ballast
-> not recommended to change
