Hi Matthias I have a quick question. My computer that I used to do firmware updates died so all I have now is a computer with USB connections no serial, so my question is can I use a usb to serial adapter to do the firmware updates? Or will this cause a problem?

in most cases it works but some converters are not reliable

As Matthias say it works you have the best results in using USB-to-serial cable with a profilic chipset. Many other convertercables may cause problems.

I am using a converter with the prolific chipset. Normal operations are working well but every time I have tried to update firmware it failed halfway through and I had to use a computer with serial port and do the manual firmware update

Did you confirm the update on the Profilux Display while you start the progress?

Do you use the original serial PC-cable from GHL between ProfiLux and the USB-->serial adapter?

Hi,
sorry, I don't speak english very well, but I had have the same problem.
My firmeware update ( and the connection) goes only with the USB-->serial adapter. When I take the original serial GHL cable between, then works nothing else.
I'm anxious, what the answer is.
