Today i inserted two new card on to my P4, PLM-ADIN and PWC.
The PWC card was recognized but the ADIN is not displayed in the System TAB.
The digital inputs are not responding.
Can someone point me to where the problem might be?

Update.
When i start P4 it displays "Slot 1 PWC" but nothing for Slot 2.
When i click on assign devices the grid is empty (no unassigned devices are found).
Should i try to reinsert the card again or move it to the Expansion Box?
Where can i find some documentation/manual for the ADIN card. The link for the ADIN manual in the forum does not work (http://support.aquariumcomputer.com/...ad.php?did=237).
The P4 is with the latest firmware and latest GCC version.

Hello,

support for the ADIN extension card is not yet included.
The ExpansionBox will not help you in this case.

Please wait for the next firmware release.

slight correction: PLM-ADIN support was included right from the start, so I don't understand why it didn't work on your P4

I tested the exact same setup and it worked

maybe let's try the update which comes this evening (7.04) and go from there

if it still not works then there is maybe a problem with the card or the slot (did you swap both cards for a test?)

Hi Matthias,

my PLM-Adin (brand new) is also not recognized by the PL4.
In system overview the card is not listed.
I have inserted the card in the PL4 after uprading the firmware to Version .4
Perhaps this could be the reason?

Hi Matthias,
Yes i swap both cards and the result is the same, PWC recognized ADIN not.
Here is some info before and after the swap.

I updated the P4 firmware to 7.04 but the problem remains, PWC card recognized, ADIN not.
Should i try System Reset

My PLM-Adin is also not recognized.
After upgrading same issue here.
I also resetted the PL4 to factory defaults - PLM-ADIN not found and used another card slot.
When will this issue be fixed?

The problem is not in the slots. I have verified that they work fine by swapping the PWC and ADIN cards. So i guess that either there is something wrong with our cards or the P4 firmware does not support them.
However, Matthias was able to use the card so maybe there is some kind of defect in the card itself.
Matthias what shall we do?
Best

The PLM-ADIN I am using is brand new (delivered together with the pl4). Possibly the card has a defect.
Can anyone else confirm, that his card is working?

for me the same problem with a brand new ADIN Card an the newest firmware .4

I fear this issue is bit larger than I initially thought.

My PLM-ADIn are a bit older and they work fine. I think it is possible that the opto couplers of the newer PLM-ADIN have a different behaviour due to the tolerances, to keep it simple: the new processor of the P4 and the PLM-ADIN don't understand each other, caused by (slightly) different signal levels.

I have to examine this further and will post here as soon as I have results.

Any news on the PLM-ADIN issue.
I apologize that I'm impatient

I think (hope) I finally found after a quite long investigation the reason for this issue. Sorry for the delay, butr this was not an easy one.

I was able to re-produce this effect on several different configurations, but I want to ask our users which had been affected by this to give me some feedback, just to be sure.

Summary:

PLM-ADIN is recognized in the P4 at some customers, at some customers not. If the the PLM-ADIN is not detected (correctly) this may lead to problems with the WiFi.

(Presumed) reason: P3 and P4 work internally with different signal levels, some of the PLM-ADIN use optocoupler brands which work with these levels, others don't.

Although all used optocouplers are the same type (6N137) they seem to show a different behaviour. We found out that the Fairchild 6N137 (black opto coupler) don't work, the 6N137 of an unknown brand (brown optocouplers) work.

Below a photo which illustrates this.

QUESTION:
Can the affected users confirm this?
1. PLM-ADIN with brown optocouplers work
2. PLM-ADIN with black optocouplers don't work

Once we have confirmation that my assumptions are right we produce a new batch of cards and replace the trouble-maker cards.
At the same time I added some precautions in the new 7.05 to avoid interferences with the WiFi when a card is not working properly.

my new card has the black ones and doesn't work in my new P4:

for the wifi, I removed the card now to take the picture, but my wifi connection is also poor in the quality as before with plugged card.

I will open up my P4 tomorrow and remove the card to check on the optocoupler color but my P4 does not recognize the card and my WiFi signal has been very poor since day one.

Edit: Removed ADIM card and it has the black optocouplers. WiFi signal still sucks

the PLM-ADIN issue (new version of card with black optocouplers) is solved with yesterday's update 7.05
